“Some people asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "Whose Islam is the best? i.e. (Who is a very good Muslim)?" He replied, "One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands."”

Welcome to Shah Jahan Mosque

Britain’s first purpose-built mosque

Shah Jahan Mosque is the UK’s first purpose-built mosque and a Grade I listed building. For over a century, it has been a place of prayer, learning, and community for people from all walks of life.

A place for everyone

Whether you are visiting for worship, curiosity, or quiet reflection, you are very welcome. The mosque serves a diverse and growing congregation, while also opening its doors to neighbours, visitors, and anyone wanting to learn more about Islam.

Rooted in heritage, active today

The historic mosque sits alongside prayer halls and community spaces. Together, they reflect both our heritage and our ongoing role in serving people today.

Faith, community, and service

Through daily prayers, education, and a range of activities, the mosque brings people together, supports spiritual growth, and contributes positively to wider society .
