About Us

Serving the community

Shah Jahan Mosque serves a growing and diverse community, providing spaces for worship, learning, and community life.

Spaces for worship

The original mosque, with capacity for around 60 worshippers, remains in use for daily prayers. As the congregation has grown, additional prayer spaces have been developed to meet the needs.

The large prayer halls are used for Friday prayers, Ramadan (including Taraweeh prayers), Eid, and other major gatherings. The first prayer hall is for men, and accommodates up to 1,000 worshippers. A dedicated space for women accommodates around 600 worshippers.

Community spaces

Alongside prayer facilities, the mosque includes spaces for wider use:
A community hall with kitchen and facilities, used for weddings, events, and local activities.
A smaller recently renovated multi-purpose hall for classes, seminars, and smaller gatherings.
Spaces that also support sports and youth activities at certain times

Supporting families

The mosque provides a dedicated facility for the washing and preparation of the deceased. We work closely with local funeral organisations to support families with care and dignity during difficult times.

A place of peace

The mosque grounds include a garden, created in partnership with BBC Southern Counties Radio. It offers a quiet place for reflection and welcome, reflecting the mosque’s message of peace and harmony.

You are welcome to visit and experience the space for yourself.
